We’re often told that everything happens for a reason, but at first it can be very hard to see what the reason could possibly be when we encounter very difficult times in our life.

Being diagnosed with a serious illness, at a time when I still very much want to ‘live’, it would be easy to ask ‘why me?’ On reflection, I feel it’s because I have a strong enough will to deal with this and can use my experiences to help raise awareness and funds for a little-known rare disease, and I hope that through my writing I will inspire others to keep going when they face tough challenges.
